BYMWA equips teenage mothers and women in Katebwa Subcounty with livelihood skills, education support, and community networks — breaking the cycle of poverty, one family at a time.
Bulhambo Young Mothers Women's Association (BYMWA) is a community-based organisation in Katebwa Subcounty, Bunyangabu District — nestled at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda.
Founded by local women who witnessed the daily struggles of teenage mothers firsthand, BYMWA is dedicated to restoring dignity, economic resilience, and hope through practical, community-driven programs.
We believe that when a mother thrives, her children thrive — and so does her entire community.

Every initiative is designed with the mothers and women of Katebwa at the centre — practical, dignified, and sustainable.
We supply Irish potato seedlings to members and run a communal Mother Garden for seed multiplication — building sustainable income and food security for families.
From donating 85 quality three-seater desks to 255 pupils, to improving school sanitation — we invest in the learning environments where children spend their days.
Weaving, small business development, and income-generating training equip mothers with hands-on skills to build economic independence and stability for their families.
Before this project, 525 pupils at Foundation Model Nursery & Primary School sat on the floor or crowded together — affecting concentration, attendance, and health.
With funding from Luena Foundation, BYMWA procured and delivered 85 durable three-seater desks, directly improving the learning environment for 255 children in Mabwe Cell, Bunyangabu District.
The school's toilets remain in critical need — our next campaign is already underway.
The real measure of our work lives in the lives that have changed.
Before BYMWA helped our school, my children were sitting on the floor. Seeing them at proper desks now — it means everything. They come home eager to learn.
The potato seedlings we received changed my household income completely. I was able to pay school fees for two of my children from last season's harvest alone.
I dropped out of school at 15. BYMWA's skills training gave me a second chance — not just for me, but for my daughter. I want her to go further than I did.
Luena Foundation's support has shown us that people far away still care about children here at the foot of the Rwenzori. We are grateful and we are working hard.
